THE KING CHEF: Stephen Curry has 31 points and 11 rebounds, leads Warriors to 110-99 victory over Knicks

After his previous game ended in a scoreless first half, Stephen Curry rebounded with 31 points and 11 rebounds by the half, and the Golden State Warriors defeated the New York Knicks 110-99 on Thursday night.

The Warriors, who had won 11 straight games in the 2018–19 season, now had their longest winning run of seven games on the road thanks to 25 points from Jonathan Kuminga.

Though they were never in charge for very long, the Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back. They began off with several big leads, but the Knicks, with their limited resources, continued closing the gap to a manageable one.

They were unable to come back, as Golden State triumphed for the tenth time in a total of twelve games.

In a win in Washington on Tuesday, Curry was 0 for 7 in the first half, his lowest scoring output through two quarters since November 23, 2012. This was the second time in his career that he got a double-double in the first half. He started the game with a 3-pointer and finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds at the half.

Klay Thompson scored 16 points, and he finished with eight 3-pointers. Chris Paul, who missed 21 games due to a fractured left hand, finished his second game with 11 points and six assists.

For the Knicks, who were 14-2 in January before finishing 4-8 in February, Jalen Brunson scored 27 points. However, they lost their starting forwards, OG Anunoby and Julius Randle, late in the month and are unsure of their return date.

The Knicks, who missed their first nine shots and fell behind by 17 early, had Donte DiVincenzo score 16 more points and Josh Hart finish with 14 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists.

In just 17 seconds, Curry scored the first goal of the game, and the Warriors had a 14-0 lead after four minutes. After DiVincenzo’s basket put a stop to New York’s 0-for-9 start, Thompson made a three-pointer to increase the score 17-2.

Curry’s second shot gave the Warriors a 22-5 lead, which the Knicks cut to 50-44 at the half, but Golden State led 55-46 at the half.

Midway through the third quarter, a 3-pointer by Curry gave the Warriors a 17-point lead once more. However, the Knicks responded, cutting the lead to 73-67 with a 3-pointer by Brunson with 2:39 left in the game.

With less than three and a half minutes left, Golden State was still leading by seven points, but two baskets by Curry from outside the arc put the advantage back up to ten.

Coach Tom Thibodeau announced on Thursday that Anunoby was cleared to start doing solo basketball drills like dribbling and shooting, but he was not yet allowed to play in any contact situations while recovering from elbow surgery. This could mean that Anunoby is getting closer to making a comeback.
