From Rags-to-Riches: Inside Rihanna’s touching childhood journey story selling clothes on the street to win 9 Grammy Awards and become rich owner of Fenty Beauty

It would be tough to locate someone who hasn’t heard at least one of pop icon Rihanna’s hit songs. However, fewer people are aware of the challenges she has faced in her life. While many famous people come from wealthy backgrounds, Rihanna was raised in a less opulent manner. Notwithstanding the hand dealt her at birth, the Barbadian vocalist courageously overcame every obstacle.

Robyn On February 20, 1988, Rihanna Fenty was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, to Monica and Ronald Fenty. Her father was a warehouse supervisor, while her mother was an accountant. American R&B and hip-hop, together with Caribbean music genres like reggae, were the music that Rihanna grew up listening to.

Even though Rihanna adores music, she had a challenging childhood. In contrast to other affluent people who inherit their wealth, Rihanna’s success is the product of her own perseverance and hard work. She truly is a success tale of self-made.

When Rihanna was younger, her father made a career by hawking clothing either from his car or on the streets. Rihanna would occasionally accompany him, either out of need or desire. In a 2011 interview, Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, revealed that she used to set up a kiosk on the side of the road and sell scarves, belts, and hats.

She packaged chocolates to resell to her school friends for a profit since she had a sweet tooth for business. Her father was greatly impressed by her entrepreneurial energy and anticipated that she would eventually go into business for herself.

There have been ups and downs in Rihanna and her father’s relationship. Their connection seems to have a strong undercurrent of ambivalence from an early age. Rihanna disclosed in 2009 that she hadn’t spoken to her father Ronald for eighteen months.

However, when Rihanna bought him a property in Barbados in 2016, it appeared that their relationship was getting better. It seems that Rihanna still wants to support and care for her father in spite of their turbulent relationship.
